The price you referenced appears to be the purchase price of an aftermarket transmission unit only. The estimate we provided was $8,900 before tax, and it included much more than simply installing a transmission. This repair requires significant labor to remove and reinstall the unit, new fluids and related components, and factory software reprogramming that must be completed after installation so the vehicle’s computer can properly communicate with the replacement transmission. Additionally, the labor portion of the estimate was less than half of what was suggested in your post, and the diagnostic charge covers the technician’s time required to properly test and confirm the failure before recommending such a major repair. Our goal has always been to provide professional, thorough repairs using proper procedures and warranty coverage. We strive to be the most professional repair facility in the area, not necessarily the least expensive option. Mitchell, we’re very sorry to hear about your frustration, as this is certainly not the experience we want any customer to have. We do want to clarify that this repair has been performed under an extended warranty, which means we are only authorized to replace components that are approved by your warranty company. Over the past year, two separate A/C components have been replaced on your vehicle through warranty approval, and the second repair was redone at no charge to you. In fact, honoring that repair has cost us more than the total deductible you have paid, so while we understand your frustration, this situation has been challenging for us as well. On a nearly 17-year-old vehicle with over 150,000 miles, it is unfortunately not uncommon for components within the system to fail over time rather than all at once. There are also numerous other factors that can cause an A/C system to over-pressurize and lead to additional component failures. We have made attempts to reach you to discuss the situation and work toward a resolution, as we genuinely want to help in any way we can. Please contact the shop directly so we can review the next available options together and assist you further.
